Published / by Logan / Leave a Comment

The Kabbalah International Center is a non-profit organization that was developed by Philip Berg in 1965. The organization has tutors from different ethnic backgrounds who offer guidance, counseling, and training to its global student community. Rav Yehuda Ashlag initially established the Kabbalah International Center in 1922. Back then, it was known as the Yeshiva Kol Yehuda. After the death of Rav Yehuda Ashlag, Rav Yehuda Brandwein succeeded him. Rav Yehuda Brandwein then passed the responsibility of continuing the legacy to Kabbalist Rav Berg. Berg is the Director of the Center, alongside his wife Karen and their two sons, Michael and Yehuda. The headquarters of the Kabbalah International Center are in Los Angeles. The offices were opened in 1984. There are other branches in Milan, Warsaw, London, Toronto, Manhattan, Moscow, Caracas, Berlin, and Mexico City. The teachings of the Kabbalah are based on the Zohar. It is the central sacred text of the Kabbalistic wisdom. The Zohar decodes the mysteries and explains the universal spiritual system that is described in the Bible. The Kabbalah Center’s teachings are based on practical methods that don’t emphasize on the knowledge of Jewish and Hebrew texts as prerequisites. Kabbalahism believes in the existence and coexistence of different religions in the world. It views that the various religions that are present are an indication of the particular branches of universal wisdom. The Kabbalah views itself as a supplement to the already existing religions, rather than as an alternative.

The Kabbalah teaches that every human being should be concerned with how they relate to God’s nature, rather than God Himself. The Kabbalah teaches its student community that God is beyond human understanding and comprehension. However, the nature of God can be understood, and it is known as the Light.

The Kabbalah International Center believes that astrology has always been a part of Judaism. Astrology is the study of the movements and relative positions of celestial bodies as a means of divining information about terrestrial events and human affairs. The Kabbalah movement believes that cosmic forces influence everything, and learning how to understand them is treasured.

Madonna’s enthusiasm for studying Kaballah is contagious, with some celebrities finding Jewish mysticism helps them cope with the demands of Hollywood, while others saw a trend and attended the Kaballah Centre in Los Angeles once or twice before moving on to the latest fad. Since Kaballah stresses the need to help others, and wealthy celebrities, who have a sizable audience, are in the ideal position to do good in the world. Madonna was able to open a Kaballah Centre with her wealth and Elizabeth Taylor was able to offer herself in exchange for hostages by using her fame. Click Here for Kabbalah Centre news.

If the Berg’s had not opened Kaballah Centres, Hollywood’s female, non-Jewish celebrities would not be studying Kaballah. Orthodox rabbis taught Kaballah to men over the age of 40 who were scholars; women and gentiles could not hear Kaballah’s secrets. While Hollywood’s elite attends the L.A. Kaballah Centre headquarters, the nonprofit organization has centres in major cities worldwide. Philip and Karen Berg operated the Kaballah Centre in L.A. before Madonna walked through their doors; the vast majority of the individuals that attend Kaballah Centres are everyday people who are seeking answers. The Kaballah Centre teaches non-Jews since they do not require students to understand Hebrew or be familiar with the Torah; they are seeking a universal audience. Philip Berg wanted to make Kaballah’s wisdom accessible to everyone, instead of keeping it a closely guarded secret. At the Kaballah Centre, people hear about the light and spirituality, which attracts individuals who are not looking for a formal religion as well.

Teaching the Kabbalah

Published / by Logan / 1 Comment on Teaching the Kabbalah

Kabbalah-ism, the classical Hebrew school of mysticism, is enjoying a rebirth in modern culture as its teachings spread to the general populace all over the world.
Approaches to learning Kabbalah typically fall into three categories:

* Theoretical, which is focused on understanding life through the paths and correspondences within the Kabbalist Tree of Life, the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet, and much more.
* Spiritual, which dwells on concepts such as angels, souls, and meditation to develop personal spiritual growth.
* Magical: From the medieval age right up through the present many students of the Kabbalah have seen it as an arcane system for not only understanding, but manipulating, the physical world.

However, understanding the Kabbalah is less about finding personal fulfillment than it is about abandoning ego. “Kabbalah” translates as “that which is received”. Appreciating the Kabbalah means being receptive to ideas that all of the material world, including ourselves, flows from the Divine. The Tree of Life is essentially the blueprint for Creation, and study of the Kabbalah makes us more receptive to such energies. We come to see that matter is the product of the spirit. Grasping this allows us to better experience the Divine around us.

The Kabbalah Centre based out of Los Angeles is the largest organization in the world dedicated to bringing the wisdom of Kabbalah to people around the globe. It dates to the original Kabbalah school established in Jerusalem in 1922 by Rav Yehuda Ashlag. These teachings were taken to America by his student Rav Yehuda Brandwein, who passed on leadership of the school in 1969 to Rav Phillip Berg.

That school became the Kabbalah Centre, still under the directorship of the Berg family. It now directs over 50 Kabbalah schools around the world, with over 5,000 regular students. Instruction is based on the Zohar, the classic 14th-century text which built on secret traditions discovered through study of the Torah (Old Testament).
